We hosted Thanksgiving this year and are about to host Christmas and I thought I would share some pictures of our dining room table all ready for the holidays. We have a long table and I was planning to serve dinner buffet style, so it needed something more substantial that a single centerpiece. The table runner is from Home Goods and I got the Christmas greens from Home Depot. They always have mixed greens tied in a small bunch that are the perfect amount for decorating a table. I trimmed the greens and placed them all around candles I already had. The ornaments were put on top with the caps pointed down. The greens will last well over a week before getting too dry, so you can decorate well ahead of time.
The Thanksgiving tablescape is very similar. I used the same table runner and candles. I bought the flowers from Trader Joe’s the Monday before Thanksgiving to give the roses a chance to open. An easy trick to get flowers to open is placing a garbage bag over the flowers and putting them in a warm, sunlit room about 24 hours before you need arrange them. Check them every few hours until the are nice and open.
